Created by students in Dr. Michelle Garvey’s Fall 2020 course on Environmental Sustainability through the University of Minnesota’s Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs, these flowcharts capture major entry points into the environmental justice (EJ) movement. Resources curated reflect each students ‘ unique critical thinking processes informed by conversations with dozens of Twin Cities-based EJ leaders. In this project, we strive to appreciate local and contemporary contexts for injustices, including the Minneapolis Uprising following the police murder of George Floyd. Our goal is twofold: document this critical historical moment via artifact collection, and share resources amplifying the bold ideas and powerful leadership that constitute EJ.
